The Indianapolis Colts and the New York Giants face off on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium for a Preseason NFL matchup.
The Indianapolis Colts are a team that many are talking about as favorites to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl but it was apparent in week one of the preseason that Indianapolis has some issues they will need to resolve If they hope for a Super Bow to happen. Andrew Luck was razor sharp in week one completing 80 percent of his passes but Matt Hassellbeck got the majority of the snpa and Chandler Harnish saw action. One of the Colts big weaknesses appears to be the running game where Trent Richardson will need to improve and where it has gotten so bad that Dan Herron is almost looking like a viable option. T.Y. Hilton is just a budding star at WR and while Reggie Wayne hasn’t played in preseason he will be back this year but the Colts also have Hakeem Nicks who caught a ball in week one, Da’Rick Rogers who had a 45 yard play, and Donte Moncrief who has game breaking speed. Defensively Henoc Muamba had 12 tackles, Jonathan Sharpe had eight tackles, and Cam Johnson had a sack. The Colts defense allowed just 13 points in the loss to the Jets.
USA TODAY Sports
The New York Giants have won both of their preseason games thus far beating the Bills in the Hall of Fame Game and the Steelers last week. While it is still the preseason, it is apparent the Giants are better than the team we saw last year that simply couldn’t hold onto the football. Eli Manning has been sacked twice but he has completed 66.7 percent of his passes, Curtis Painter hasn’t had an incompletion, and Ryan Nassib has looked good and has seen most of the snaps. The Giants running game looks to be improved as well as Andre Williams is averaging 5.9 yards per carry, Rashad Jennings is averaging 9.0 yards per carry, and Peyotn Hillis is averaging 5.1 yards. As for receivers the ball is being spread around with Corey Washington and Marcus Harris each having four catches and Mario Manningham having a catch as he returns to the Giants. Defensively Cooper Taylor has 11 tackles and an interception, Jordan Stanton has two sacks, and Zack Bowman has an interception. The Giants new offense is a short passing high percentage offense that should help out in the turnover department.
I see the Colts having the passing game but very little else and in this one I see the Giants controlling it.
