The New York Giants and New York Jets will meet Friday night at MetLife Stadium for preseason action.
The New York Giants improved to 3-0 in the preseason, as their most recent win came against the Indianapolis Colts, 27-26. Crazy enough, the Giants trailed by 26 points in the fourth quarter of that game. Eli Manning completed just one of seven passes for six yards, while Curtis Painter and Ryan Nassib each threw a touchdown and saw the bulk of the action. While the New York Giants finished the game with 305 yards and scored 27 points in the fourth quarter, they’re a team that’s still trying to find itself offensively. Expect Manning and the starters to see a lot of playing time in this matchup. Defensively, the Giants allowed 304 yards and 10 points in each of the first two quarters. Jacquian Williams led the Giants with nine tackles and Spencer Adkins scored a defensive touchdown.
The New York Jets improved to 1-1 in the preseason with a 25-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Geno Smith saw a lot of the action, completing 10 of 13 passes for 98 yards and an interception. Michael Vick completed five of nine passes for 70 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 16 yards on two carries. The two Jets’ quarterbacks are still heavily in a quarterback competition and should see the bulk of the action in this third preseason game. Chris Johnson also had a solid game with 63 rushing yards on 10 carries. Overall, the New York Jets finished with 343 yards and scored 22 unanswered points. Defensively, the Jets allowed 298 yards and allowed just three points in the final three quarters. Calvin Pryor led the Jets with seven tackles, while Damon Harrison was one of many New York players with a sack.
The New York Giants continue to find ways to win preseason games and that's with their backups doing much of the dirty work. Now, the Giants will play their starters the bulk of the game. I'm not sure that's a good thing, but I cant pick against a team that's been hot and continues to win.
