The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills play a preseason game Saturday at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are winless in their first two preseason games with their first loss coming against the Miami Dolphins, 20-14. Mike Glennon completed six of 12 passes for 77 yards, while Mike Kafka and Josh McCown threw a touchdown each in the losing effort. While the Buccaneers passing offense can be much better, the running game led by Doug Martin and Jeff Demps showed promise by picking up 91 yards on 23 carries. Rookie receiver Mike Evans also had 52 receiving yards on two catches. Overall, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had 250 yards and scored on both red zone trips. Defensively, the Bucs allowed 326 yards and forced a turnover. Dane Fletcher led the Buccaneers with five tackles and Gerald McCoy had the team’s only sack.
USA TODAY Sports
The Buffalo Bills are 1-2 in preseason action with their most recent loss coming to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 19-16. EJ Manuel continues to try and get in his groove, as he completed 17 of 27 passes for 148 yards and an interception. Backup Thaddeus Lewis also threw an interception, as the Bills only touchdown was a run by Anthony Dixon. The Buffalo Bills offense continues to struggle throughout the preseason, racking up 358 yards but turning the ball over four times. Fred Jackson did have 27 rushing yards on six carries and caught seven passes. Still, the Bills have been turnover machines so far. Defensively, the Buffalo Bills allowed 254 yards and forced three turnovers. Stefan Charles had two sacks, while Nickell Robey and Deon Broomfield came away with an interception.
I simply can’t trust the Buffalo Bills with the way they’ve played lately, turning the ball over seven times in three games. I’ll gladly take the Buccaneers and the points given the circumstances.
