The San Diego Chargers and San Francisco 49ers play Sunday night preseason football at Levi's Stadium.
The San Diego Chargers fall to 1-1 in preseason after getting crushed by the Seattle Seahawks, 41-14. Philip Rivers threw just four passes for 20 yards, while Kellen Clemens saw the bulk of the action with 21 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Of course, you’re likely going to see Rivers play a lot more considering this is the third preseason game. Danny Woodhead led the San Diego Chargers with 24 rushing yards, but overall the offense struggled with just 238 yards and was 2-2 in the red zone. Manti Te’o led the Chargers with six tackles and Tourek Williams picked up the team’s lone sack.
USA TODAY Sports
The San Francisco 49ers drop to 0-2 in the preseason after being embarrassed by the Denver Broncos, 34-0. Colin Kaepernick completed five of nine passes for 39 yards, while backups McLeod Bethel-Thompson and Blaine Gabbert both threw an interception. Jewel Hampton led the 49ers with 22 rushing yards and the team averaged 2.9 yards per carry. Overall, it was a real struggle as the San Francisco 49ers managed just 230 yards, turned the ball over four times and were 0-1 in the red zone. Defensively, the 49ers allowed 357 yards and held the Broncos to 3-6 in the red zone. Jimmie Ward and Michael Wilhoite led the 49ers with seven tackles, and the team had zero sacks or turnovers forced.
If you've been following along, you know I don't turn down tons of points in a preseason game. Sure, the 49ers are at home and will be eager to give the fans a better showing than last week. The 49ers are also a much better team than the Chargers and should win this game given the fact the starters will see more minutes.
However, this is still a preseason game and winning isn't the main goal here.
Give me the Chargers and the points.
