The Arizona Cardinals head to San Diego on Thursday to face off against the Chargers.
The San Diego Chargers have a record of 1-2 this preseason after falling to the 49ers this past weekend at Levi’s Stadium. The Chargers first team offense did look effective however, even though the Chargers faulted inside the redone after the San Diego defense forced a turnover. San Diego’s starting defensive unit also looked solid, holding the number one’s of San Francisco to just three points. After the number one’s left the game however, San Diego’s offense took a notable downturn. The Niners front seven was able to get pressure in the backfield, forcing tipped passes, quarterback hurries and two interceptions. Don’t look for Rivers to play much here against the Cards as Rivers looked impressive on Sunday, and against another solid NFC West defense, the Chargers offense could struggle once again.
USA TODAY Sports
The Arizona Cardinals fell to the Bengals 19-13 this past weekend. The score isn’t the issue here, but Carson Palmer looked anything but sharp, and it’s clad that the Cards do have some offensive issues this season. Drew Stanton had the best and busiest day of all the Cards signal callers and Stanton was effective, throwing for better than 100 yards and a score on the day. The Cards defense took a big blow losing Dockett for the season, but in this particular game I don’t factor that in at all, as he wasn’t likely to see the field much anyway.
I’m going to take the visiting Cards here. Stanton is a vet and looked solid in Arizona’s last outing, and with Palmer likely to be very limited here, look for Stanton to again see the field often. The Chargers starting unit looked good, but there is a large drop off after the number one’s leave, and right now, Arizona just looks like the deeper team.
