The Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks meet Thursday night at CenturyLink Field to kick off the 2014 NFL season.
The Green Bay Packers enter the season with a healthy Aaron Rodgers at quarterback and wide receiver in Randall Cobb. The status of both playmakers should help the Packers remain Top 10 in both rushing and passing yards. The Packers won three of their final four preseason games and scored a combined 65 points in the final two matchups. Green Bay also has to be thrilled to have a healthy Clay Matthews at linebacker after he missed much of last season with injuries. However, everything isn’t all bright and sunny for the Green Bay Packers, as they recently received word that defensive lineman B.J. Raji is out for the year with a torn biceps. Letroy Guion is expected to replace the big man in the middle of the line. The Packers are ready to make another run for the playoffs.

The Seattle Seahawks can finally begin to defend their Super Bowl title, as they return pretty much everybody from last season. The only major loss on offense for the Seahawks was Golden Tate, as Marshawn Lynch will continue to lead the way on the ground, while Russell Wilson and Percy Harvin will light things up through the air. Defensively the Seattle Seahawks still have the best secondary in the NFL with Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas leading the way. Bruce Irvin and Cliff Avril will also look to build on last season’s accomplishments and take things to another level. Overall, the Seahawks may be the best team in the NFL on paper.
The Packers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in Week 1 and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Seahawks are 38-18-1 ATS in their last 57 home games and 35-15-1 ATS in their last 51 games overall. The Packers are 3-1-2 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
I have a hard time seeing the Seahawks lose at home when the place is going to absolutely jacked up given that it’s the night the rings come out. Seattle is usually unbeatable at home anyway, but this is going to be taken to another level. Give me the Seahawks by a touchdown.
