The Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos meet at Sports Authority Field at Mile High for Sunday night football.
The Indianapolis Colts were winless in the preseason but have their eyes set on a deep playoff run this year. Andrew Luck enters his third season where most quarterbacks really hit their stride. That shouldn’t be an issue with the amount of weapons Luck has around him, as Reggie Wayne returns from injury and Hakeem Nicks joins a wide receiver corps that already has T.Y. Hilton. If anything, the Colts running game that ranked 21st in the country is the only thing that must improve starting with Trent Richardson, who’s been a bust so far in his career. Defensively the Indianapolis Colts have potential but must improve a run defense that finished 26th in the country last season. The addition of Arthur Jones should help in that department.

The Denver Broncos enter the season as the favorite to many to win this year’s Super Bowl. Of course, the Broncos success will live and die on the quarterback play of future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning. Manning led the best passing attack in the league last season and should have no problem staying in that same ballpark with guys such as Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders catching the football. The Denver Broncos will remain one of the more explosive offenses in the NFL this season. Defensively Denver struggled last year but with the return of Von Miller and the additions of DeMarcus Ware and Aqib Talib, the Broncos come off as more of a complete team this time around. As was the case last year the Denver Broncos are going to be a tough team to beat.
The Colts are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 vs. AFC. The Broncos are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 vs. AFC and 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games in September. The Colts are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
Just like last season’s game between these two teams, this should be a great game. Both teams are more than capable of putting points on the board in a hurry and they should both be improved defensively. Considering the Colts have covered the spread in their last six games against Denver and Andrew Luck will have another point to prove, give me the free touchdown.
