NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Weekly Schedule and More
September 12, 2014
Week 2 is off and running, and that gives us some extra topics to discuss before we get into the meat and potatoes of the schedule on Sunday. In the meantime, there are plenty of headlines to visit, so with that said let’s take our daily look around the NFL and see what’s happening out there right now.
Steelers-Ravens Wrap-Up: Realistically, the Ravens’ 26-6 victory on “Thursday Night Football” last night should have been much closer than it actually was. The Steelers continuously shot themselves in the proverbial foot all night, killing drives with turnovers and penalties while defensive mistakes kept them on the field longer than they should have been.
Still, much credit goes to the Ravens, who utilized the short passing game alongside an effective Bernard Pierce to keep from falling to 0-2 in the division. The AFC North should be highly competitive once again this season, and it’ll be fun to watch.

Minnesota’s star RB Adrian Peterson sat out practice yesterday, but according to reports it wasn’t because of anything serious. The Vikings say he’s not injured, so we’re likely looking at star/veteran perks here. He should be fine for this weekend.
Miami No. 1 WR Mike Wallace was limited during yesterday’s practice session. He’s dealing with a hamstring injury. The general consensus seems to be that he’ll play this weekend against the Bills.
Likewise the same situation holds for Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno. He was limited yesterday due to a shoulder injury. The general feeling there is that he’ll play as well.
Over in San Diego, veteran TE Antonio Gates was out of practice yesterday. He was limited Wednesday as well due to a hamstring issue. The team faces a tall order this weekend against Seattle, so they definitely need him out there.
The Raiders’ Maurice Jones-Drew admitted to what was a “minor procedure” on his hand this week. He was seen wearing a bandage.
MJD says that nothing is broken, but we’ll have to wait for some more information before we can get a feel on his immediate playing future.
NFL Week 2 Schedule: With Week 1 in the books, it’s time to start looking forward to Week 2. We’ve got plenty of interesting matchups on tap for the second round of games, so here’s a look at the complete schedule, along with the start times and TV networks you can catch the action on.
