The Titans and Cowboys square off in Nashville as these two teams are coming off very different results on opening weekend.
The Dallas Cowboys were an absolute train wreck in the 2014 season opener at home against the San Francisco 49ers and while many expected that the West Coast dwellers were to come away with the win it was the manner in which they did it that shocked many. The Cowboys were awful on both sides of the ball and while it is well documented that their defense is among the league’s worst they have always been able to rely on their offense to get them back into games. However, the Niners defense stepped up and Tony Romo was dreadful leading to a lopsided win for San Fran, leaving the Cowboys scratching their heads as they prepare to go into Tennessee to take on a Titans team playing with confidence. Dallas to me has the best unit in this contest as their playmakers on offense have what it takes to send this team to the playoffs but Tennessee is the more complete team and I think are an underrated bunch in the wide open AFC South.
The Titans are coming off a very impressive win in Kansas City to open the season and while a large part of their victory was an indication of just how bad the Chiefs are you have to give the Titans credit for going into Arrowhead and dominating a playoff team from a year ago. Tennessee got up early and often against the Chiefs which kept Jamaal Charles to a minimum and forcing the Chiefs to try and win with Alex Smith throwing the ball downfield. That is never a good recipe for success and now Tennessee will look to cause the same havoc on Romo this weekend as they look to move to 2-0 and send their fans home happy for the first time this season. Jake Locker is primed for a huge season and he looked very good last Sunday and against a Cowboys secondary that is among the league’s worst you can expect another solid outing from the former Washington Huskies pivot. The Cowboys are one of those teams that always seem to respond after facing adversity and after the way both team’s performed last weekend the line looks really fishy to me. While Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter are both solid receivers and the Titans match up well with Dallas I think this game will come down to the final snap and as such I like the Cowboys to keep this within a field goal.
