The Broncos and Chiefs square off in Denver in an AFC West grudge match between two teams who made the postseason a year ago.
The Kansas City Chiefs as mentioned were a playoff team last season after securing a wild card berth in the AFC and despite losing to the Bengals at home there was some lingering optimism heading into this season. However, that may have been extinguished in one foul swoop last weekend as they were embarrassed at Arrowhead by the Tennessee Titans who are an underrated bunch but are by no means AFC contenders like their opponents this weekend. The Chiefs failed to get Jamaal Charles involved in the offense and quite frankly they couldn’t get anything going offensively against the Titans and that was in Kansas City where conditions are usually catered to favour the home team offensively. The Chiefs head into Mile High to take on a Broncos team who didn’t skip a beat offensively in their victory over the Colts on Sunday Night Football last weekend but will certainly be out to improve their play defensively in this one.

Denver was embarrassed in the Super Bowl last year against the Seattle Seahawks and as such they went out and overhauled their defense by bringing in Aqib Talib, TJ Ward, and Demarcus Ware. The Broncos looked solid on both sides of the ball against Indy before a couple of late scores from Andrew Luck made the final line quite close but it is tough to fathom that the Chiefs will be able to move the ball nearly as well as the Colts did based on their personnel. The Broncos know their window of opportunity is closing and while they are without Wes Welker for another few weeks it is clear that Julius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders are more than capable of helping Demaryius Thomas carry the offensive load. While divisional games are always tough to call I just don’t see how this one is anything but a Broncos thrashing and laying double digits is always tough I think Denver gets up early and unlike their game against Indy I think they keep the margin wide from start to finish.
