The Seattle Seahawks and San Diego Chargers square off Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium.
The Seattle Seahawks have had a week and a half to prepare for this game after crushing the Green Bay Packers last Thursday, 36-16. The Seahawks defense was dominant as usual, holding the Packers to just 255 yards and nine points in the final three quarters. The Seahawks forced a turnover and sacked Aaron Rodgers three times. Bobby Wagner led Seattle with 14 tackles and Michael Bennett had two of the team’s three sacks. Offensively, Russell Wilson completed 67.9 percent of his passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns, while Marshawn Lynch had two touchdowns and 110 rushing yards on only 20 carries. Along with a healthy Percy Harvin, the Seattle Seahawks are clearly ready to make another strong run to defend their Super Bowl title.

The San Diego Chargers suffered a heartbreaking loss against the Arizona Cardinals that came down to the final seconds. Despite allowing 403 yards, it was the Chargers defense that gave themselves a chance to win late, forcing three turnovers, sacking Carson Palmer twice and holding the Cardinals to 3-16 on third down. Shareece Wright led San Diego with eight tackles, while Eric Weddle had four tackles and two pass deflections. Offensively, the San Diego Chargers really struggled, averaging just 2.2 yards per carry and scoring three first half points. Philip Rivers completed only 58.3 percent of his passes for 238 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Unfortunately, it won’t get any easier for the Chargers offense in this matchup against an elite Seahawks defense.
The Seahawks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 36-15-1 ATS in their last 52 games overall. The Chargers are 8-3 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Seahawks are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings in San Diego.
The Chargers seem to always play better and compete when you least expect it. See the Broncos games last season for proof of that. So, while the Seahawks should win this game, I get the feeling this is going to be one of those tight games that is decided in the final minutes. I suggest taking the points here.
