The Line: Washington Redskins -5.5 -- Over/Under: 43 See the Latest Odds

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Redskins play Sunday afternoon at FedEx Field.

The Jacksonville Jaguars got off to a fast start against the Philadelphia Eagles but ended up falling short, 34-17. Chad Henne played a solid game with 266 passing yards and two touchdowns, but the Jags running game that averaged just two yards per carry simply wasn’t getting it done. It’s absolutely pathetic when Henne is your second leading rusher with eight rushing yards. Jacksonville has to get more out of Toby Gerhart and company or its in for another long season. The Jaguars had a 17-0 lead heading into halftime but didn’t score for the rest of the game. Defensively, the Jags allowed 420 yards but did force three turnovers. Paul Posluszny leads the Jaguars with 12 tackles, while Ryan Davis came up with two sacks in the losing effort.

Washington Redskins vs. Jacksonville Jaguars - 9/14/14 NFL Pick and Odds

The Washington Redskins lost to the Houston Texans, 17-6, but it wasn’t a complete disaster. Robert Griffin III threw for 267 yards and completed 78.4 percent of his passes, which is his second highest single-game completion percent in his career. Running back Alfred Morris also played a solid game, rushing for 91 yards on only 14 carries. The downside is that the Redskins turned the ball over twice, had 70 yards in penalties and scored only once on their two red zone trips. Defensively, the Washington Redskins allowed 316 yards, with most of the success coming through the air. DeAngelo Hall leads the Redskins with eight tackles, while Jason Hatcher was the only Washington player to pick up a sack in the loss.

Washington is back at home and showed enough offensively to prove that this season should be better than last year. The Jags are a team that folds once it gets punched in the mouth.

I look for the Redskins to pull away late and cover the spread.
