NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Schedule and More
September 18, 2014
It’s Thursday, and that means the official start of Week 3 in the NFL. We’ve still got a few hours left to kill until kickoff, so with that in mind let’s take our daily look around the league and see which players are making headlines out there this morning. Here’s the latest.
Falcons veteran Roddy White didn’t practice during the team’s walkthrough yesterday; He’s still nursing a sore hamstring. That said, the Falcons seem to expect him to be out on the field for tonight’s game. He’s considered questionable with his injury, but the lack of practice time shouldn’t hurt him if he does play.

Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts missed out on both Week 1 and Week 2 due to a hamstring injury, but he was able to practice yesterday. He was limited during the session, but the signs are beginning to point to him making his debut against Indianapolis on Sunday.
Similarly, Marqise Lee was limited in yesterday’s practice due to his own hamstring issue.
Ravens QB Joe Flacco wasn’t able to practice yesterday. Sources close to the team say that was due to an illness. We’ll have to wait and see how that affects his status for this week’s game.
Saints RB Mark Ingram had his surgery on his hand, correcting a fracture and displacement. He had two screws inserted in the area above his thumb. The general consensus on his recovery window seems to be around a month.
Jets WR Eric Decker was with the team doing some warm-up stretching yesterday, but didn’t end up practicing. He suffered a hamstring injury during the Green Bay loss on Sunday. Jets coach Rex Ryan didn’t offer an update on his condition, so we’ll have to wait a little longer to see what he’s looking like for Monday’s game against the Bears.
Dallas QB Tony Romo sat out practice yesterday due to back tightness, which is just the latest red flag in his health situation. He wasn’t sent for tests, as the condition wasn’t deemed serious. Romo has looked oddly uncomfortable while throwing this year so far.
