The Tennessee Titans will have their hands full on Sunday when the Titans head to Cincy to face off against the Bengals.
The Cincinnati Bengals have started off the 2014 season strong, with a 2-0 record. The Bengals impressed this past week, defeating the Atlanta Falcons 24-10. The Falcons kept pace with the Bengals early on, but Cincy pulled away in the third quarter, and essentially this thing was over once the Falcons got in the board in the middle of the fourth quarter. Turnovers were the name of the game in this one as the Bengals finished the day at +3, and with this roster, if the Bengals can get a positive turnover ratio, Cincy will be a tough out for anyone. Superstar wideout AJ Green left this one with a toe injury, and as of right now, Green is listed as questionable on Sunday against the Titans. Giovanni Bernard is emerging as a big time playmaker in this offense. Bernard had 90 yards on the ground against the Falcons, and accompanied that with 79 receiving yards as well.

The Tennessee Titans started off their 2014 campaign strong, putting a wooing on the Chiefs in Arrowhead, but the Titans got derailed a bit this past weekend, getting ran over by the Cowboys at home. The Titans never really were in this game as the Cowboys jumped out to an early first half lead, shutting out the Tennessee offense for the entire first half. Delanie Walker got the Titans on the board in the third quarter, with a 61 yard touchdown from Jake Locker, but it wasn’t nearly enough. The Titans quarterback Jake Locker struggled against the Cowboys on Sunday, throwing two picks, against just the one score to Walker. The Titans did have some success on the ground against Dallas, averaging better than 6 yards per carry on the day, but the Titans fell behind early and were forced to look to the air. Look for the Titans to try and establish the ground game once again here on Sunday. The Bengals defense is much better than Dallas’ and if the Titans are forced once again to air it out, it could be another long day for the Titans.
The Titans are an even 8-8 against the spread in road games the past three seasons, while going 7-10 overall on the road in that span. Cincy plays well at home, going 6-1 against the spread when the number is between 3.5 and 7 points the past three seasons, and the Bengals are 12-5 against the spread in their last 17 at home.
Right now I am seeing the number on this one anywhere between Cincy -6.5 and Cincy -7. The Titans are better than they showed us this past weekend, as there may have been a bit of a hangover after their game against the Chiefs, and honestly the Titans just plain didn’t match up well against the Dallas offense. Unfortunately for the Titans the Bengals are built in similar fashion. I fully expect Green to play here, and with Sanu/Hill/Bernard, this team will be tough for the Titans defense to stop. That, plus the fact that the Bengals are always tough at home makes me lean Cincy here. If you are going to play this one I’d be shopping hard for the 6.5, and to get it you will likely have to get on it early. I’ll probably stay away from this one however, unless something happens during the week which changes my mind. In which case I’ll let you know on twitter or facebook.
