The Kansas City Chiefs look for their first win of the season when they travel to Sun Life Stadium to take on the Miami Dolphins.
The Kansas City Chiefs look nothing like last year’s team, as they’ve lost to the Tennessee Titans and Denver Broncos. Jamaal Charles has run into the injury bug again with a high ankle sprain, Alex Smith is completing just 58.4 percent of his passes and the Chiefs defense is near the bottom of the league, allowing 365 yards per game. Tight end Travis Kelce has developed into a big time playmaker who has four receptions of 20 or more yards, but the Chiefs are struggling to find production from just about anyone else. Alex Smith has been sacked six times, but he is KC’s second leading rusher with 78 yards to his credit. Defensively, the Kansas City Chiefs have yet to force a turnover and have five sacks. Eric Berry, who is also injured, leads the Chiefs with 15 tackles and Josh Mauga is second on the team with 14 tackles.

The Miami Dolphins stunk it up against the Buffalo Bills and really made people forget about their win against the New England Patriots. Running back Knowshon Moreno is going to miss some time with an injured elbow, the Dolphins offensive line has allowed Ryan Tannehill to be sacked five times and the lack of chemistry with receiver Mike Wallace is still an injury that carried over from last season. The Dolphins running game is averaging a solid 4.2 yards per carry, but the protection for Tannehill proved to still be an issue in the week 2 loss and has to improve if this is going to be a turnaround season for Miami. Defensively, the Miami Dolphins are allowing 315 yards per game and have forced two turnovers and four sacks. Jelani Jenkins leads the Dolphins with 20 tackles and Cameron Wake has two of the team’s four sacks.
The Chiefs are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in Week 3. The Dolphins are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games in Week 3.
With both offenses struggling a bit and both starting running backs banged up, I see a low scoring game that comes down to the wire. I suggest taking the under in this matchup considering the defenses lead the way for both squads.
