The Washington Redskins and Kirk Cousins will look for a bounce back effort on Thursday when they host the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football.
The New York Giants came into the season with little to no expectation from the viewing public as they were abysmal in the preseason and that carried over into the regular season as they looked downright awful through the first two weeks. The G-Men regained a little bit of credibility last weekend as they recorded their first win of the season albeit at home against a Houston Texans team coming off a 2-14 campaign and was without Jadeveon Clowney and Arian Foster. New York now plays on a short week on the road against a divisional foe in a game that is slated to be a must win for both if they want any shot at staying in the divisional race as both the Eagles and Cowboys have looked good. Eli Manning has had his struggles again this season and his seemingly sour relationship with Rueben Randle hasn’t helped matters as the breakout receiver last year has just 67 yards in three games and has just one score. Rashad Jennings has been the lone bright spot for the Giants and he torched the Texans last week and against a Redskins team that is giving up points in bunches you can expect this will be a similar matchup won by the quarterbacks.

The Redskins played inspired football last weekend behind a stellar game from Kirk Cousins who if he continues to sling the ball like he has could very well put an end to the RGIII era in Washington despite management’s desire otherwise. Washington has a ton of talent on the offensive side of the ball as Pierre Garcon, Desean Jackson, and Niles Paul give Cousins a lot to work with through the air and running back Alfred Morris has been great on the ground as he usually is. The Skins would love to use this game as a showcase for the rest of the league that they can be competitive this season and against a Giants team that has looked like a low end college bunch for the most part this year it could set the stage for another strong team victory for Washington. This is a tough spot as the Skins are coming off that shootout with Philly and now return home to face another divisional opponent but if there is any game they’re going to get up for it is this one. While I am not convinced with the Washington defense I like Cousins and I think the Skins can do enough offensively to get the win and the cover at home in prime time.
