The Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers face off on Thursday Night at Lambeau Field and NFL NFC North battle.
The Minnesota Vikings got into the win column last week as Teddy Bridgewater had a nice day against the Falcons. Unfortunately for the Vikings it appears Bridgewater probably won’t be able to go here making it Christian Ponder’s offense to run and that hasn’t been a recipe for success in the past. Jerick McKinnon was effective last week and is averaging 6.2 yards per carry but it will be interesting to see what kind of success he will have as the Packers should be stacking up against the run here. The pass will more than likely be used as an element of surprise for Minnesota and Greg Jennings and Cordarrelle Patterson lead a capable bunch for Minnesota. The Vikings defense has eight sacks and four interceptions and they will be tested but they get good news that Captain Munnerlyn should be able to play having recovered from food poisoning and they are hoping Harrison Smith can continue his high level of play as he has one sack and two interceptions. The Vikings have a number of players who can rush the passer as Anthony Barr, Everson Griffen, and Tom Johnson each have two sacks. This will be a real test for the Vikings to see if last week’s win was the start of a turnaround or if it was a fluke.

Last week Aaron Rodgers told Green Bay Packers fans not to panic and he delivered with a win over the Chicago bears to get the Packers to 2-2. Rodgers has nine touchdown passes already this season and just one interception as he is completing 66.2 percent of his passes. Jordan Nelson seems to always be open for Rodgers and he has 33 receptions and Randall Cobb has five touchdown catches. Eddie Lacy is averaging just 3.0 yards per carry but James Starks looks rejuvenated and is averaging 5.0 yards per carry. The Packers have a plus four turnover ratio and that is usually a recipe for success. A.J. Hawk has 38 tackles and Morgan Burnett has 36 but the packers defense has just six sacks with Julius Peppers and Clay Matthews having just one each. Lambeau can be a tough building especially when the Pack are scoring.
Green Bay is 4-9-1 against the spread in their last 14 games, 35-16 against the spread against the NFC North, and 1-5-1 against the spread in their last seven home games. Minnesota is 6-1 against the spread against the NFC, 4-1 against the spread against the NFC North, and 2-6-1 against the spread after passing for more than 250 yards in their previous game. The home team has covered the point spread in five of the last seven meetings of these two.
The total in this one is dropping with the uncertain status of Bridgewater and the increasing certainty of rain but I still like the over here though it is just a lean. My stronger pick is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
