The Houston Texans will have their hands full on Sunday as the Texans head to Dallas to face off against the Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys were written off as the season began, but something has lit a spark in this team, and right now Dallas is looking as good as they have in awhile. That spark I’m talking about is an offensive line. Dallas right now has one of the best offensive lines in the league, and the Cowboys are putting that line to good use as the Cowboys are staying committed to the run game. A testament to this is when the Cowboys fell behind early to St. Louis, a spot where the Cowboys normally would have just went to the air again and again. Dallas stuck to the game plan and worked their way back into the game against the Rams, earning Dallas the win at the end of the day. The defense for the Cowboys is better than expected, but this unit still isn’t good - especially against the ground game and in the secondary...which is obviously kind of a lot. Still, this unit isn’t as bad as advertised and is making enough plays to keep the Cowboys in front.

The Houston Texans have started off their season at 3-1, already eclipsing their win total from last season. The Texans have been discounted some for their strength of schedule up to this point, but this isn’t college and you can’t pick and choose who you play. Well, unless you completely tank a season to get the first round pick and essentially the easiest schedule preseason, but I’m sure that has never happened before. The Texans like I said are getting wins, and even though it’s not always in super impressive fashion, in this league a win is a win. Houston has one of the better pass rushes in the game, thanks to a mr. J.J. Watt, but this offense really concerns me. Houston’s offensive line as a whole has struggled, especially in trying to clear lanes for this rushing attack. If the Texans aren’t able to remain balanced against the Cowboys, Dallas should have some success getting to Fitzpatrick and it could be a long day for the Texans in Dallas.
Houston is 3-1 against the spread this season, and on the road, Houston is 1-1 ATS on the year. The Cowboys are 3-1 against the spread as well, and as a favorite, Dallas is 1-0 against the spread this season.
I have to take the Cowboys in this spot, but honestly this is just a lean and will be a game I pass on. Dallas looks to be the better team, but I worry about the Cowboys believing they are better than they really are, and with a full week at home, and all the fanfare that goes around playing at Jerry World, I’m curious to see how focused this team is on Sunday. If I were to play on this game it would be on Dallas, but like I said I’ll be staying away from this one.
