The Atlanta Falcons head to New York on Sunday to face off against the Giants in an effort to get back into the win column.
The New York Giants were pretty much written off for dead after the first two weeks of the NFL season, and considering the season is 16 games long, that seemed to make a lot of sense (sarcasm). The Giants have since rebounded, with wins against the Texans and the Redskins, and now face a very tough Atlanta Falcons squad. the Giants are seemingly getting this new offense figured out, as Eli Manning is looking impressive, completing at or near the 70 percent mark promised this past offseason. The Giants emergence however also has a lot to do with this offensive line. The Giants O-Line is doing a great job in botrh protecting Manning, as well as creating running lanes. The Giatns have quite a bit of skill position talent on this roster, and now with a more familiear offense, and a line playing as well as they are, the Giants are suddenly a tough out.

The Atlanta Falcons started off the season in impressive fashion, defeating the Saints. The Falcons suffered a respectable loss to the Bengals in Cincy in the second week of the season, but followed that up with a dismantling of the Bucs in primetime. Then came last week. The Falcons traveled to Minny to face the Vikings and their rookie signal caller Teddy Bridgewater, and the Falcons walked into a perfect spot for the Vikes, as there was virtually no film on Teddy and the Vikes were focused and motivated behind new leadership under center. The Falcons famously don’t perform as well on the road, but the offense wasn’t the issue last weekend against the Vikings. Atlanta put up 28 points on the day, which you would hope would be enough to beat a struggling team with a rookie quarterback making his first start. The Vikings hung 41 on this Atlanta defense, and now after hodling their chests out high after beating up on the Bucs, the Falcons now enter this matchup with the Giants with a bit of a chip on their shoulder.
The Falcons are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games agianst NFC East opponents, and the Falcons are 0-2 against the spread on the road this season. The Giants are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games in October, and the Giants are 1-1 ATS at home this season.
I’m on the Giants in this spot. New York is playing really well right now. The offense has come around as I talked about above, but the defense is also playing really well. I don’t expect this unit to force 43 turnovers against Matty Ryan and the Falcons this week like they did in week three against the ‘Skins, but the Giants should be able to do enough to contain these guys, and win this one by about six to seven points.
