The Cleveland Browns head to Tennessee on Sunday to face off against the struggling Tennessee Titans.
The Tennessee Titans started off their 2014 campaign in impressive fashion, but since that opening week victory over the Chiefs, the Titans have been one of the worst teams in the league. The TItans are now just 1-3, and haven’t been competitive in their losses to the Cowboys, the Bengals and the Colts. To be fair, all three of these teams are having good seasons right now, but with Whisenhunt on the sideline, Titans fans were hoping for a better start. Locker missed the last outing for the Titans, but at the time of writing at least, Locker was listed as probable against the Browns. The Titans are likely in better hands with Locker under center, due to his athletic ability ad libbing and extending plays, but Locker is little more than a competent NFL starter right now. One possible bright spot for this Titans team is Bishop Sankey. The Titans said this week that they expect to see Sankey get more work, and anyone who has watched this offense this season, knows that Sankey is the best option in the Titans backfield. The Browns have struggled at defending the run at times this season, so look for the Titans to rely heavily on the ground game here.

The Cleveland Browns are playing some solid ball this season, and the Browns have had plenty of time to prepare for the Titans, having a bye week last Sunday. Cleveland is just 1-2 this season, but the Browns have been competitive in every game they’ve played and whether or not Cleveland fans will admit to it or not, Brian Hoyer is playing solid ball and right now anyway, it’s hard to replace him with Manziel. The Browns had one of the better defenses in the league last season, but in 2014, Cleveland is getting it done on the offensive side of the ball. The Browns have scored 21 or better in all three games, and with their new “college style” offense, the Browns are stressing opposing defenses. Cleveland has one of the better offensive lines in football right now, and if this unit keeps playing at the level they are now, the Browns won’t be an easy out for anyone this season.
The Browns are 2-1 against the spread this season, and in the past three seasons when playing a team with a losing season, the Browns are 3-6 against the spread. When coming off a division game the Titans are 2-6 against the spread the past three seasons, and as a home favorite of three points or less, the Titans are just 1-2 against the spread in their last three.
I have to go with the Browns in this spot. Cleveland is playing better up front right now, and this team has been a player in every game this season, so they are used to tight ball games. I probably won’t be on this one personally, unless the number gets to three or above, but there does seem to be some value on the Browns here.
