NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Schedule and More
October 9, 2014
Tonight, Week 6 in the NFL opens up, and it’s a little difficult to believe we’re this far into the season already. Nonetheless, we’ve still got plenty to talk about as we wait on the Colts and Texans this evening, so with that in mind let’s take our daily look around the league and check out some of the notable headlines out there.
One of the more interesting Week 6 matchups out there will feature Tony Romo and the Cowboys going into the lion’s den of Seattle to take on the Seahawks.
Normally, there’s not much of a question that the Seattle defense will clamp down on the opposing QB, but the defending champs have had a bit of trouble against the pass lately. Sure, they’ve faced some elite competition so far (Rodgers, Manning, etc.) but also barely got out of Monday’s game against the Redskins unscathed--mostly thanks to Russell Wilson, who was running all over the place.
Will Romo have success this week against the Seattle secondary? We’re still inclined to say no, especially in Seattle. That said, the recent exposure of the Seahawks pass defense is still a cause for concern, and the Cowboys' stellar running game will certainly help to swing things in their favor.

Let’s check in on Cardinals QB Carson Palmer, who has been out for the team’s last three games due to a nerve injury in his shoulder.
Palmer was able to throw during yesterday’s workouts, however there are still some major doubts as to his status for this weekend against the Redskins.
If Palmer can practice in full today and tomorrow, it’ll go a long way toward getting him in game shape for this weekend, however he still needs to go through some therapy work in Denver tomorrow. As of right now, we’d imagine Logan Thomas will start.
In other quarterback news, the Raiders’ Derek Carr was able to get in a good practice yesterday, according to interim head coach Tony Sparano. From all the indications we’ve heard so far--including Carr himself--it’s looking like the rookie will be out there on Sunday against the Chargers (without a brace on his knee).
The Bengals A.J. Green will visit with a doctor today to see what’s happening with the toe injury he sustained during yesterday’s practice.
Green has been having toe issues all year and is in jeopardy of missing out on Sunday’s game. We’ll get some extra information on his status later today.
