The Denver Broncos and New York Jets play Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium.
The Denver Broncos have looked sharp all season and it’s mainly due to Peyton Manning, who is completing 66.5 percent of his passes for 12 touchdowns and three interceptions. Manning will have to continue to carry the load offensively, as the Broncos are averaging just 3.2 yards per carry and now will be without leading rusher Montee Ball due to a groin injury. No other Denver player besides Ball has topped 100 rushing yards this season. Even without a reliable running back, the Broncos have three receivers who have topped 200 receiving yards, including Julius Thomas who has hauled in at least one touchdown pass in all four games. Meanwhile, Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas have combined for 12 receptions of 20 or more yards. The Broncos have won seven straight games when scoring 21 or more points. Defensively, the Denver Broncos are allowing 21.8 points, 346.8 yards, and they’ve forced three turnovers and 11 sacks. Brandon Marshall leads the Broncos with 32 tackles and Von Miller has 3.5 sacks.

The New York Jets have lost four straight games and have the worst passing offense in the NFL. Geno Smith has thrown six interceptions to four touchdowns and is completing 58.1 percent of his passes, while Michael Vick is completing only 40 percent of his passes in very limited playing time. It seems like whoever the Jets put under center is doomed to fail this season with the lack of weapons and an offensive line that’s allowed 11 sacks. The good news for the Jets is that Chris Ivory is averaging 5.4 yards per carry, giving the Jets an above-average running game. Eric Decker, the Jets leading receiver with 204 yards, is questionable with a hamstring injury. Defensively, the New York Jets are allowing 25.4 points, 320.8 yards, and they’ve forced three turnovers and 17 sacks. Dawan Landry leads the Jets with 41 tackles and Calvin Pace has 3.5 sacks.
The Broncos are 9-3 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Jets are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. loss and 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The underdog is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings.
Maybe I’m crazy, but I like the New York Jets to keep this under double digits. Rex Ryan always has a defensive plan for Peyton Manning and usually gives him fits and can force him into a few mistakes. I’m not sure how the Jets put points on the board, but the NYJ defense can make this somewhat of a game. I also don’t like the Broncos traveling a great distance after a big victory over the Arizona Cardinals last week.
