The Cincinnati Bengals and the Jacksonville jaguars face off on Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium in Week 9 NFL action.
The Cincinnati Bengals are coming off of a huge win against AFC North rival Baltimore to move into first place in the division. The Bengals survived a rash of big injuries and while they took a few losses and had a tie, they still are in control of their own destiny. The Bengals offense is averaging 23 points and 352.9 yards per game ranking them in the second half of the NFL teams. QB Andy Dalton has completed 65.4 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and four interceptions. Giovanni Bernard has 446 yards rushing and 22 receptions and Mohamed Sanu is the Bengals leading receiver with 35 catches as A.J. Green has been sitting out with turf toe and he is questionable for this one. The Bengals defense allows 23.4 points and a 30th ranked 399.1 yards per game but they are plus four in turnover margin. Reggie Nelson has 50 tackles and two interceptions, Terrance Newman has 40 tackles, and Emmanuel Lamur has 42 tackles. The Bengals have been playing with a patchwork team on both sides of the ball and are starting to get healthy again.
USA TODAY Sports
The Jacksonville Jaguars have just one win this season and they have grown accustomed to drafting at the top of the draft order. The Jaguars offense has been dreadful averaging 14.8 points which is last in the NFL and 306.6 yards which ranks them 30th. QB Blake Bortles hasn’t looked like a franchise savior completing 63.5 percent of his passes with 12 interceptions and six touchdowns. Denard Robinson has gained 329 yards as the top Jacksonville running back and Allen Robinson is the Jags top receiver with 39 receptions. The Jaguars defense hasn’t been much better than the offense allowing 27.2 points and 382.4 yards and Jacksonville has a minus 10 turnover ratio. Paul Posluszny has 69 tackles, Jhnathan Cyprien has 53 tackles, and Josh Evans has 43 tackles. Jacksonville may be undergoing a building process but hey don’t seem close to be being built.
Cincinnati is 14-3 against the spread in their last 17 home games, 6-0 against the spread at home against a team with a losing record, and 4-1 against the spread in their last five games in November. Jacksonville is 8-20-1 against the spread in their last 29 games, 2-6-1 against the spread following a loss, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games. The road team is 4-1-1 against the spread in the last six meetings of these two.
This one should be a blowout and I look for the Bengals to win a one sided game and get the cover.
