The Line: Detroit Lions -2.5 -- Over/Under: 43.5 See the Latest Odds

The Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions play Sunday afternoon at Ford Field.

The Miami Dolphins have won three straight games and are starting to think playoffs with one of the league’s best defenses leading the way. The Dolphins are allowing 18.9 points, 304.9 yards, and they’ve forced 25 sacks and 18 turnovers. The Miami Dolphins have won eight of their last 11 games when allowing 24 or less points. Jelani Jenkins leads the Dolphins with 56 tackles and Cameron Wake has 6.5 sacks. Offensively, Ryan Tannehill is playing his best ball of his career by completing 63.3 percent of his passes for 14 touchdowns and six interceptions. Tannehill has passed for six touchdowns and one pick in his last three games, completing 70 percent or better in two of his last three. The Dolphins have 19 passing plays of 20 or more yards, while Mike Wallace and Jarvis Landry have combined for more than 700 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. The Dolphins ground game is averaging 4.8 yards per carry and leading rusher Lamar Miller is likely to play despite a shoulder injury.

Lions vs. Dolphins - 11/9/14 NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Detroit Lions have also won three straight games and are being led by their defense. The Lions are allowing 15.8 points, 290.4 yards, and they’ve forced 23 sacks and 12 turnovers. The Detroit Lions have allowed no more than 24 points all season. DeAndre Levy leads the Lions with 75 tackles and Ezekiel Ansah has 4.5 sacks. Offensively, Matthew Stafford is completing 61.2 percent of his passes for 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Stafford has five touchdowns and three picks in his last three games. The Lions are expected to have Reggie Bush and Calvin Johnson back on the field after they’ve missed some time with injuries. Golden Tate has really emerged as a top target on the outside, as he’s caught a touchdown in three of his last four games. Detroit has 26 passing plays of 20 or more yards and is averaging 12.1 yards per catch. The Lions ground game is averaging 3.1 yards per carry and Joique Bell has scored in two of his last three games.

The Dolphins are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Lions are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a bye week. The Dolphins are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings, while the road team is 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings.

The oddmakers keep doubting the Miami Dolphins and they keep proving them wrong. Not sure what else the Dolphins have to do to start getting respect. Miami has held its own against some of the games top quarterbacks in Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Jay Cutler and most recently Philip Rivers. An up-and-down Stafford really shouldn’t be a problem here. The Dolphins are looking more and more like a playoff team each week. I’m taking the moneyline here, as the value is too good to pass up.
