NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Week 13 Schedule and More
November 24, 2014
Even though Week 12 in the NFL isn’t completely over just yet, it’s time to start looking forward to Week 13. There are plenty of headlines to go over this morning, so with that in mind let’s take our daily look around the league and see what’s happening out there.
SNF Wrap-Up: This game lived up to the hype it brought in with it, and the end result was a very competitive and exciting game filled with great plays and action. Cowboys QB Tony Romo tossed a pair of touchdown passes to his favorite target Dez Bryant, and the second one was the game-winner from 13 yards out with just 1:01 remaining in the fourth. Dallas would get a 31-28 victory over the Giants here.
Romo finished with 275 yards and four touchdowns while DeMarco Murray held it down on the ground with 121 yards on 24 carries.
On the other side, you’ll be seeing Odell Beckham’s masterful touchdown catch (one of two) on highlight reels for a long time to come. He ended up with 146 yards receiving.

The Lions seem to be in a bit of trouble heading into their Thanksgiving game against the Bears. Specifically, QB Matthew Stafford was held to a career-low 39.1 completion percentage against the Patriots en route to a 34-9 blowout loss. He recorded no touchdowns for the second straight week and tallied an interception as well.
Things won’t get too rosy against the Bears this week, as that defense is flying high off a nice four-turnover performance against Tampa Bay. We’ll see if Stafford and company can make a turnaround and keep pace with the Packers in the NFC North.
Heading into Week 12, all eyes were on the Browns’ Josh Gordon as he made his return from suspension against the Falcons. Arguably the league’s most dynamic pass-catcher, he made his presence immediately known on a whopping 16 targets as the Browns iced a last-second come-from-behind victory. Gordon would finish with eight receptions for 120 yards, but didn’t score.
The hard-luck Browns seem to be the sentimental favorite for those with no horse in the AFC North, and with Gordon on board there’s no telling what the team will be capable of.
Speaking of the AFC North, let’s look at the Bengals’ A.J. Green, who had a huge day in his team’s win. He grabbed a career-high 12 balls during the 22-13 victory in Houston, finishing with 121 receiving yards on 16 total targets.
Although Green couldn’t get into the end zone, Cincinnati will take that stat-line. He’s broken the century mark twice in a row now and 19 times in his NFL tenure. We’ll see if he can do it again in Tampa this week.
