The Bears head into Week 13 holding on to their slim playoff hopes but a win on the road against their division rivals from Detroit would go a long way in reshoring some confidence and giving them some hope while a loss can all but pack in their season in the NFC North. Chicago sits at 5-6 but have been decent away from Soldier Field and they'll need a special effort here if they're going to take down the Lions on Thanksgiving especially considering Detroit is in a dead heat with the Packers for top spot in the division and they'd love to hand Cutler and the Bears a beat down at home. It is no secret that Chicago's defense especially their secondary is filled with holes thanks to some devastating injuries and while Kyle Fuller has been a nice story and is enjoying a breakout rookie season it is clear that the Bears are weak through the air and with Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate, and Matt Stafford lined up in blue on the other side of the line it could be a very long day for Chicago. The offensive line has also been an issue for Chicago as more injuries have caused a free fall for that unit and with the Lions having one of if not the best front fours in football we could see a ton of Jay Cutler on the turf in this one and if not than the pressure coming off the line should force the Vandy product into hurried passes leaving room for an interception.
The Lions meanwhile are sitting pretty at 7-4 but would love a victory here to keep pace with the Packers atop the division and with a juicy matchup like this against their division rivals it could be the perfect opportunity for the Lions to make a statement. The Bears have been underachieving all season but they do possess a ton of weapons namely on offense in the form of Matt Forte, Alshon Jeffery, and Brandon Marshall and while the Lions have been strong defensively most of the season it is their secondary that is the most susceptible and could be ripe for the picking here against a solid Bears passing game. Detroit will have the home crowd on their side and with Joique Bell playing decently well of late it could keep the Bears offense off the field which would play nicely into Detroit's hands. This should be a pretty tightly contested affair between two division rivals and while the Bears have the offense to keep up with Detroit I am not confident they will be able to move the ball as effetcively as they might like with Ndamakong Suh coming with pressure. The Lions are also coming off a loss to New England and need to regroup in a big way and I think a win by at least a touchdown on Thanksgiving is a big way to do so.
