NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Week 14 Schedule and More
December 7, 2014
We’ve finally reached the Week 14 NFL Sunday, and soon teams all around the league will be kicking off their latest games. Before we get settled in, let’s check out some of the notable news and headlines out there right now. Here’s the latest.
SNF Preview: Tonight, we’ve got a pretty good-looking matchup between the Patriots and the Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. The 9-3 Patriots are looking to shake off a Week 13 loss to the Packers at Lambeau, while the 8-4 Chargers are riding high off a 1-point win over the Ravens and looking to keep pace in the AFC Wild Card race.
The Pats have won the last two meetings between these teams, with the most recent being a 35-21 affair in September of 2011.
We’ll see plenty of aerial fireworks in this one, as Tom Brady (3243 yards; 28 touchdowns) and Philip Rivers (3218 yards; 25 touchdowns) are two of the premiere quarterbacks in the AFC.
The fun starts at 8:30 PM ET on NBC.

It looks like Titans QB Zach Mettenberger will be able to start today, even though he’s been deemed questionable with his sprained AC joint.
Mettenberger was able to practice all three days this week.
Let’s take a moment to check out the Falcons’ injury report for tomorrow’s game against the Packers on “Monday Night Football.” CB Robert Alford was officially ruled out yesterday after sustaining a wrist injury in Week 11. He hasn’t been back since.
WR Roddy White was back on the practice field yesterday and he’s been ruled as questionable. For what it’s worth, White says he’ll be out there.
Also, LG Justin Blalock and Harry Douglas are both probable.
We’ve been watching Broncos TE Julius Thomas all week. He’s been trying to return from an injury to his ankle and was able to practice on a limited basis the past few days.
That said, Thomas is still questionable for today’s game against the Bills, and there are rumblings that the team will be cautious with him and sit him out once again. We’ll know his status before kickoff today.
