NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
February 9, 2015
Coming out of the first non-NFL-football weekend in quite a while, there certainly does seem to be something missing from our workweek conversations. Still, there’s plenty to keep us going in the meantime while we await the 2015 campaign, so with that said let’s check out some of the notable headlines out there right now.
‘Tis the season for contract restructuring, and the Rams’ Sam Bradford is the latest potential casualty of that trend.
He’s set to make nearly $13 million in base salary alone this season, which is the final year of his current deal. Needless to say, the Rams want to move things around due to the fact that Bradford has had two ACL tears in two years.
The team could also simply release him outright to save a majority of the salary, which is always an option.

The Vikings’ Harrison Smith recently underwent surgery on his hand, and was seen sporting a wrap by sources close to the team. Smith calls the surgery “minor” and a “little clean-up” however, and he’s expected to be fine for this coming year.
Several notable Seahawks players saw their 2015 salaries become fully guaranteed over the weekend, bringing back key parts of the team in the process.
Among the notable guarantees are Richard Sherman, Michael Bennett, Kam Chancellor and Doug Baldwin, all of whom are under contract for various lengths with the team.
The Dolphins’ Mike Wallace recently met with the team’s general manager in an effort to solidify his status with the team, according to sources in Miami.
Wallace’s $12.1 million cap number--plus his benching at the end of the 2014 season--calls his status into question this upcoming season.
Wallace reportedly wants to stay in Miami, but that’s not a guarantee. The team could very well simply release him and move on.
