Another weekend has come and gone, though we’re officially in the midst of a holiday this morning. While we’re deciding what to do with the extra time off, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations from around the NFL in our daily wrap-up.

The Giants restructured T Kellen Jenkins’ contract this weekend, reducing his salary by $1.2 million to $1 million this year.
The new deal saves the Giants $825,000 in salary cap room.

Doug Free’s remaining contract with the Cowboys became void yesterday, clearing the way for him to become a free agent on March 10.
Dallas will still carry a $3.98 million salary cap charge from the proration of Free’s bonus.

Will we see a big step forward for Giants TE Larry Donnell this year? The team seems to believe so. They’re calling him a “future star” and think he’ll be making a splash on the stat sheet in 2015.
Donnell is going to be the No. 1 guy in the offense, playing the role of pass-catching TE. He’s coming off a 63-catch, 623-yard season in 2014 in which he scored a half-dozen times.

The Rams are going to be getting WR Tavon Austin involved more in the offense, according to New OC Frank Cignetti.
Austin posted 31 grabs for 242 yards last year, but given Cignetti’s familiarity (he was the quarterbacks coach before being promoted to OC), the extra attention for Austin makes sense.
If QB Sam Bradford can stay healthy this season, we could have a new contender in the division.
