NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
March 2, 2015
As the new NFL year continues to approach (we’ve got eight days left), we’re seeing more and more developing storylines from around the league. While we’re waiting on free agency, let’s check out some of the new headlines filling the newsfeeds.
Here’s something of a strange development down in Tampa: Bucs WR Vincent Jackson is set to be returning to the team this year at a full salary.
Looks like Jackson won the stare-down with the front office. He’d previously said he wanted to stay with the team but didn’t want to take a pay cut to do it. As a result, he’ll get $9.777 million in 2015 with a $12 cap charge to Tampa.

Recently cut ex-Eagle OL Todd Herremans is going to return to the league if at all possible in 2015. He was cut by Philly last week, saving the team $2.8 million in cap room.
Herremans had spent his entire nine-year career with the Eagles, so he’ll have to start over with another city.
What’s in the cards for breakout RB Justin Forsett this off-season? Well, he could be changing addresses, as he’s set to become a free agent on March 10.
Forsett rushed for 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns in 2014 and says he hopes to be able to remain in Baltimore and build off that success. We’ll see what happens in the next week or so.
After being released by the Lions this weekend, veteran RB Reggie Bush says he’s not retiring and will enter the free agent market. He’s coming off a disappointing 297-yard, two-touchdown year in Detroit.
Bush turns 30 today, which will limit his options of where to sign. Still, he should be able to catch on somewhere with relative ease if he’s healthy.
Some other big news that broke over the weekend was a report saying the Cowboys would allow superstar rusher DeMarco Murray to test free agency.
The negotiations on a new contract have reportedly been slow, which is likely prompting Murray to take a look at what he could fetch on the open market.
This will be an interesting storyline to follow out of Dallas.
