NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
March 6, 2015
The official countdown to the new NFL year stands at just four days, and in that time we’re sure to see plenty of interesting developments around the league. While we’re waiting on the calendar to flip, let’s check out some of the latest news out there.
It’s been a while since we’ve checked in on the status of the Cardinals’ Carson Palmer, so let’s see how he’s doing as he comes back from a torn ACL.
Palmer is currently rehabbing, and the process is reportedly going well. The 35-year-old QB is also likely to be restructuring his contract heading into the season so that the team can have more cap flexibility as they attempt to return to the playoffs.

The Bears won’t be re-signing veteran LB Lance Briggs this year, according to sources close to the team.
It’ll be strange seeing Briggs in a uniform other than the Bears’ next year, as he’s been with the team for 12 straight seasons--his entire career.
Briggs is getting up there in years but still should provide a nice lift to an LB-needy squad.
The Bills will be retaining exclusive rights free agents Justin Brown, Chris Hogan and Corbin Bryant. They extended tender offers to all three players yesterday.
The Bengals inked LB Rey Maualuga to a three-year deal yesterday. He’s been with Cincinnati for all of his six years in the NFL.
Maualuga is coming off a 59-tackle season in 12 games last year.
The Falcons extended the contract of safety Charles Godfrey yesterday. He played in both Carolina and Atlanta last year, totaling 19 tackles in 13 games.
Even though Michael Crabtree is scheduled to become a free agent on March 10, he still may end up re-signing with the 49ers.
We’d imagine Crabtree will test the market before committing to anything, as it’s unclear exactly how much interest he’ll generate in free agency. Anything could happen at this point.
