NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
March 12, 2015
Another busy day of activity occurred Wednesday in the NFL as the league gets its new year started right. While we’re waiting for all the new information to trickle in, let’s check out some of the recent developments out there.
We’ve got another possible destination for free agent RB C.J. Spiller, it seems. The Saints reportedly have some interest in the former Bill, with the Cowboys also a possibility--depending on what DeMarco Murray does.
Spiller had an injury-shortened year in 2014, when he played in just nine games.

Speaking of the aforementioned Bills, they’ve got a new QB on their roster in Matt Cassel. The good news there is that he’s fully expected to be healthy by the time off-season activities begin.
Cassel fractured bones in his foot early on in 2014 and had to have surgery.
One of the bigger signings (or headline-grabbing, anyway) was the Jets’ acquisition of QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. They picked him up from Houston in exchange for a late-round conditional draft pick.
Jets OC Chan Gailey has worked with Fitzpatrick in the past, back when both were in Buffalo. He’s been in the league for 11 years.
Those Eagles fans who aren’t sure what’s going on with new QB Sam Bradford can take some solace in the fact that the oft-injured signal-caller expects to be ready to go for training camp.
There’s no concrete timetable or return date for Bradford’s road back from his second ACL tear, but it’ll be interesting to see what he looks like when he gets back on the field.
We’re talking about the Bills a lot today, so let’s head up to Buffalo one more time. The team announced the release of TE Scott Chandler yesterday. He’s been a durable player for them, missing just three games in the past four years as a Bill. Chandler shouldn't have a whole lot of trouble finding a new home.
