We’ve reached the back side of the week, and the NFL news keeps coming in this new calendar year for the league. Let’s take a moment to check out some of the notable players and situations out there this morning.

It hasn’t been a very good off-season for former Ravens RB Bernard Pierce. He was released by the team yesterday, following an arrest Wednesday morning on a DUI charge.
Pierce played three years in Baltimore, posting five touchdowns. He makes the third Baltimore player arrested and cut this off-season.
That leaves Justin Forsett and Lorenzo Taliaferro atop the RB depth chart in Baltimore.

The Bears inked Thomas Gafford, who is a long-snapper, to a one-year deal yesterday. He’s played in 105 consecutive games.

The Giants inked former Jet Kendrick Ellis to a one-year deal yesterday. He spent four seasons in green lost in the mix of a very talented defensive front.
Ellis will likely slide in on first and second downs as a run-stopper for the Giants.

The Bills formally announced the signing of WR Percy Harvin yesterday, and the reports indicate that it’s a one-year contract.
Harvin follows former Jets coach Rex Ryan to Buffalo after appearing in eight games for New York last year.

Ex-Falcon CB Robert McClain is signing with the Patriots. He’s been in Atlanta for the past three years and is coming off a 59-tackle, two-pick season in 2014.

The Dolphins hosted a fairly prominent free agent yesterday in former 49er Michael Crabtree. The team is looking to slot him in along with Kenny Stills and Jarvis Landry.
Crabtree put up 68 grabs for 698 yards and four scores in 2014.
