Position: Wide Receiver
Career Stats: 144 catches, 1,954 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.
Strengths: Kevin White is a terrific receiver who has great hands and attacks the football. White didn’t drop anything last season and does a wonderful job of highpointing the football and positioning his body away from the defender. White makes routine catches look easy. White has good foot quickness and overall top speed, as he ran a 4.35 at the NFL combine, a number that was tied for third-fastest among wide receivers. White also isn’t afraid to mix it up when it comes to trash talk, as he’s a player who wants to win and compete at the highest level. Overall, Kevin White is one of those few “can’t miss” prospects.
Weaknesses: Kevin White will have to prove that he can consistently beat press coverage, as he often played in space at WVU and was able to take advantage of soft defenses in the Big 12. Also, White had just one great season in college. While the film doesn’t lie, you would have loved to see more consistency and more of a bigger sample size to solidify his draft stock. If you couldn’t tell, I’m kind of nitpicking at this point.
Projection: I was high on Kevin White before it became the trendy thing to do. White consistently dominated last season and caught just about EVERYTHING thrown his way. White could go toe-to-toe with Amari Cooper as the top receiver in this draft and he should be a Top 15 pick at the very least. There’s little doubt in my mind that Kevin White is going to be a star at the next level.
