NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
April 11, 2015
We’ve reached another NFL off-season weekend, and with the impending draft getting closer every day, there are more and more developing stories out there in the league. That said, let’s take our daily look at some of the headlines and see what’s going on out there.
The Jets are reportedly set to sign linebacker Joe Mays, according to sources close to the team.
Mays posted 20 tackles in eight games for Kansas City in 2014. We’ll likely hear an official confirmation on the signing next week.

It appears the end of an era has finally come. Longtime Steelers safety Troy Polamalu informed the team this week that he’ll be retiring. His future had been in question since February, when the team asked him to retire--most likely due to his $8.5 million cap hit.
Polamalu played in the NFL for 12 years, logging 32 interceptions, 14 fumbles forced and 12 sacks. He also scored five touchdowns on defense.
The Texans agreed to a deal with OL Cody White late this week. He went undrafted out of Illinois State in 2012 and sat out the 2014 season with an Achilles injury.
The Buccaneers will be focusing on signing linebacker Lavonte David after the draft has been completed, according to sources familiar with the situation.
David has spent three years with Tampa Bay, posting 146 tackles and a sack in 14 games last season. He’s a key component of the defense and one of the top-tier linebackers in the league right now.
Mike Pouncey of the Dolphins is now the highest-paid center in the league, after the team signed him to a contract extension yesterday.
According to reports, the deal is worth in the neighborhood of $40 million. Pouncey had been set to enter the final year of his rookie deal in the 2015 season.
