Position: Wide Receiver
Career Stats: 249 receptions, 3,710 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns.
Strengths: Tyler Lockett is one of the faster receivers on the board, as his 4.40 time at the NFL combine was good for fourth at his position. Lockett uses his quickness and speed to create separation and was damn near impossible to cover one-on-one at the college level. Lockett is the ultimate playmaker who also has a ton of experience making plays on special teams. Lockett is a polished route runner who always knows how to keep corners on their toes. Lockett is willing to block despite his small frame. Tyler Lockett comes from a football family, is a leader on and off the field and has zero character issues to worry about.
Weaknesses: The weaknesses with Tyler Lockett are quite obvious, as he’s extremely small for the receiver position and that includes his hands. Lockett’s lack of size will be an issue against bigger corners who try to press him at the line. Lockett fumbled the ball six times throughout his career at KSU. Lockett also had a case of the drops when trying to catch the ball in traffic.
Projection: I look at Tyler Lockett, and I see T.Y. Hilton. I think Lockett has a very promising future in the NFL and will be a steal in whatever round he ends up. Lockett is a homerun hitter and brings even more value with his special team potential. I’d consider even reaching for Lockett in the late second round. That’s how much I like this kid.
