School: East Carolina Pirates
USA TODAY Sports
Position: Wide Receiver
Career Stats: 387 receptions, 4,541 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns.
Strengths: Justin Hardy may have the best hands of any receiver in this draft, as he’s made one-handed catches look easy. Hardy isn’t afraid to get dirty in the blocking department. Hardy also knows where the chains are and majority of his receptions last season picked up a first down. Hardy has a high football IQ and was one of the more productive receivers in the history of college football. Justin Hardy is a guy who had to work for everything, so he plays with an edge and is a leader on and off the field. Hardy is an extremely competitive receiver and isn’t afraid to go across the middle despite such a small frame. Hardy also has no real injury history despite being the Pirates bread and butter for four seasons.
Weaknesses: Justin Hardy isn’t the most athletic receiver in this class and is extremely small for the position. I question if he’ll be able to create consistent separation against bigger defenders in the NFL. Hardy has to add weight to his upper-body. Hardy also has a limited route tree at East Carolina and will have to be a little more versatile at the next level.
Projection: There’s a place for Justin Hardy in the NFL because the kid catches everything and plays with a fire that can’t be put out. I just question his size and overall playmaking ability against better comp. Still, Hardy is worth a pick beginning in the fourth round.
