There are exactly two weeks left until the beginning of the 2015 NFL Draft, which begins on April 30. In the meantime, there’s plenty to talk about when it comes to league news, so let’s check out some of the headlines while we’re waiting on the big day.

The Lions and Buccaneers did some wheeling and dealing yesterday, trading George Johnson in a deal that stemmed from a grievance the two teams had.
Johnson had signed a three-year, $9 million contract with Tampa last week, and instead of matching Detroit will simply let him go and swap late-round picks here.
Johnson put up six sacks and 29 tackles last season.

Corey Wootton, who is a defensive end and free agent formerly of the Vikings, visited with the Saints yesterday.
Wootton has played in the league for five years, posting 86 tackles, 12 sacks and three forced fumbles.

The Giants inked a pair of players to contracts yesterday. Safety Josh Gordy and linebacker Ryan Jones will be in New York this year on one-year deals.
Gordy has been a journeyman over the last six years, playing for four different teams. He was with Indy last year.
Jones was an undrafted player out of Montana Tech in 2013 and was with Baltimore last season.

Sean Smith, who is a starting cornerback for the Chiefs, will be hit with two years probation for pleading guilty to driving under the influence.
Smith’s problems stem from an incident last June in which a police officer allegedly saw him drive into a light pole.

The Dolphins re-signed WR LaRon Byrd yesterday. He has just one catch in four career seasons and spent five weeks with Miami last year before going to injured reserve.
