NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
May 4, 2015
It’s been a long weekend of NFL action, and now that the draft has passed us by, we can start really looking forward to the upcoming 2015 season. With that said, let’s take our daily look at the headlines and see who’s in the news today.
You can file this under the “for what it’s worth” pile. Even though the Eagles (who have been surrounded by rumor over the past few weeks) were supposedly making an offer to Miami for DE Dion Jordan, coach Chip Kelly said this weekend that the team wasn’t close to any sort of deal.
There were talks about Jordan coming to Philly, but apparently nothing got close to materializing. Jordan is suspended for all of 2015 after his third drug violation.

While we’re on the subject of the Eagles, let’s check out the latest Tim Tebow news. Coach Kelly believes Tebow isn’t just a “camp arm” and could develop into a legitimate NFL quarterback, according to remarks he made yesterday.
Tebow is the fourth QB on the team’s roster and hasn’t played in the NFL since 2012 with the Jets.
The Steelers will be downsizing veteran LB James Harrison’s role this season, according to the coaching staff.
Harrison will see fewer snaps this year--if all goes as planned that number will be around 25 per game. He’ll be more of a situational-type player, essentially.
The Steelers drafted LB Bud Dupree out of Kentucky as their first-round pick in the draft on Thursday.
Now that the Cardinals have rookie and fresh draftee David Johnson on the roster, what’s to become of workhorse Andre Ellington?
Coach Bruce Arians says Ellington will continue his same role in 2015 and that the team will continue to develop him as a player.
The versatile Ellington was stuffed in the run game last year, managing just 3.3 yards a carry and scoring on the ground three times. It’ll be interesting to see what type of workload the Cards try to give him this year.
