NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
May 9, 2015
We’ve reached another off-season NFL weekend, and the news continues to trickle in from around the league. While we’ve got some downtime, let’s check out some of the notable headlines out there right now. Here’s the latest.
It may yet be a while before we see the Seahawks and QB Russell Wilson agreeing on a deal. The two sides are reportedly “tens of millions” of dollars apart in their negotiations on a contract extension.
The Seahawks reportedly are offering something in the neighborhood of $80 million, which would put Wilson in such financial company as Andy Dalton and Colin Kaepernick.
After leading the team to consecutive Super Bowl appearances, however, Wilson is likely looking for much more. He’s coming off a 3,475 yard season with 20 touchdowns and seven picks.

The Texans are all finished up signing their entire 2015 draft class, and all reported for rookie camp yesterday.
Houston inked all seven picks, including first-rounder Kevin Johnson, second-rounder Benardrick McKinney and third-round value pick Jaelen Strong.
The Jets also signed their first-round pick yesterday, No. 6 overall DE Leonard Williams. Even though the Jets are already stacked on the defensive line, the addition of Williams gives the team some depth and flexibility.
He’ll get a contract for four years at roughly $18.6 million.
According to a report yesterday, the much-anticipated announcement on New England QB Tom Brady’s suspension is coming next week.
As far as length of suspension goes, that’s anyone’s guess right now. Some outlets speculate as little as a two-game suspension, while the Patriots themselves are reportedly prepping for something in the 6-8 game range.
