NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
May 25, 2015
It’s been a long holiday weekend, and over the past few days we’ve seen several new developments in the NFL off-season. That said, let’s check out some of the notable headlines from around the league.
The Titans’ OLB Jonathan Massaquoi is recovering from minor shoulder surgery (characterized as a cleanup) and will be missing out on the team’s OTAs this off-season.
Massaquoi was picked up off waivers from the Falcons. He posted 22 tackles in his 15 games there last year.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Bears’ secondary looks like this season. The team still has a few question marks as far as positioning, with Tim Jennings possibly fitting into the slot role.
It would be somewhat strange to see Jennings in the slot, which is where he was playing in minicamp. He’s a nine-year NFL vet who led the league in interceptions in 2012.
Jennings will be competing alongside Alan Ball for the shot to start opposite Kyle Fuller on the outside.
Speaking of cornerbacks, down in Houston rookie Kevin Johnson is making a good impression on his team so far. In minicamp he impressed the coaching staff with his quickness and preparation, so we’ll probably see him making a big impact with the Texans this year if he keeps it up.
We got a bit of an update on the Bengals’ Vontaze Burfict this weekend, and the news isn’t so great. He’s reportedly not progressing from his microfracture knee surgery as quickly as the team had hoped.
At first, the plan was to have Burfict back for training camp, but it appears he’ll need more time to get back to 100 percent.
If Burfict isn’t back in time for Week 1, he may end up hitting the PUP list.
