NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Schedule and More
August 11, 2015
We’ve got just a few days left before the rest of the NFL gets going on their first preseason games of the 2015 season. That said, let’s check out some of the notable news items in the headlines today.
The Browns’ Joe Thomas had to cut out of practice early yesterday. His leg was rolled up by a teammate.
The good news is that Thomas walked off the field under his own power.

In other injury news, the Steelers’ Shaun Suisham was confirmed to have torn his ACL during the team’s preseason debut on Sunday.
He’s expected to miss the season due to this injury.
The Patriots moved their QB roster around a little bit yesterday. Matt Flynn was cut and Ryan Lindley was signed in his place.
Flynn had signed a one-year deal earlier this year, but wasn’t able to do much as he’s been fighting off a stubborn hamstring issue.
As for Lindley, he most recently appeared with the Cardinals in their playoff loss last season.
It looks like Ravens WR Steve Smith is going to be calling it a career. He told sources close to the team that this would be his last year. It’s his second season in Baltimore.
Smith posted 79 grabs for 1,065 yards and six scores. After 15 years, he’s still pretty darn productive.
Over his career, he’s got 915 catches for 13,262 yards and 73 touchdowns.
The Eagles’ JaCorey Shepherd tore his right ACL, a status confirmed by an MRI yesterday.
Shepherd hurt himself during Sunday’s practice session. He will not be able to play this year.
