NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Schedule and More
August 16, 2015
Another round of NFL preseason games is in the books, and we’ll be getting our next dose of gridiron action very soon. In the meantime, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there right now.
The Seahawks’ Tarvaris Jackson will be out of action for at least two weeks, following an ankle injury in Friday’s preseason matchup.
Jackson’s injury is a sprain and not a break--which is great news for him--but he’ll still need some recuperation time.

In other injury news over in the NFC, the Bears’ No. 1 WR Alshon Jeffery is going to be missing at least one week of practice.
Jeffery sustained a strained calf this past week and wasn’t able to take part in the team’s opening preseason matchup Thursday.
His injury doesn’t sound like it’s a huge deal, however. He should be fine moving forward.
The Bears also got some devastating news regarding WR Kevin White. He’s got a stress fracture in his shin and has to undergo surgery to correct it.
This situation gets worse: White could very well miss the entire 2015 season. He’ll be starting things out on the PUP list.
The Jaguars’ Jonathan Cryprien has a fractured right hand. Although he doesn’t need surgery, he’ll likely be missing the entire preseason.
The coaching staff in Jacksonville is optimistic that they’ll have Cryprien back by the time Week 1 rolls around.
Over on the Rams, LG Roger Staffold was only able to last four snaps in his team’s first preseason matchup on Friday.
Staffold injured his shoulder--the opposite one he had surgery on this off-season--and got multiple tests yesterday.
