The Dolphins look to take a huge step forward this season and a strong showing in the preseason should give Miami some confidence heading into week one. They take on the Panthers in Carolina on Saturday as the home side copes with life without Kelvin Benjamin.

The Dolphins are coming off a tough loss in their preseason opener on the road against the Chicago Bears and while they are away from home once again in this one they head into Carolina to take on a Panthers team whose season took a serious blow this week. Miami is expected to be competitive in the AFC East and with the Patriots without Tom Brady for quarter of the season there is a very real chance they can unseat them as division champs. The Dolphins acquired Ndamukong Suh and Jordan Cameron in the offseason and will have plenty of weapons on both sides of the ball and if Ryan Tannehill can continue to take steps forward than this Miami team is one to certainly watch out for. As for Saturday, look for more starter's to get more reps as the preseason moves along and while it likely will be backups well before half time I think Miami is in a good spot here.
The Panthers are in a state of turmoil at the moment as they have encountered one of a handful of intra squad camp fights so far with one involving Cam Newton and now they have learned they will be without sophomore receiving standout Kelvin Benjamin who was the team's main weapon on offense. The Panthers were likely to struggle towards a .500 record at best this season and now without Benjamin they could finish in the basement of a very weak division as all three teams ahead of them look much better on paper than the Cardiac Cats. While this may be a tough game to handicap as the preseason usually is I don't see how the Panthers should be favoured here even though they're at home and as such I'll take a better Dolphins team to respond after a tough time out last week.
