We’re heading into our final NFL-less weekend before the 2015 season, as Week 1 will begin in just five days. Let’s check out the daily headlines and see who’s making news right now.
The Browns’ Duke Johnson is still mired in concussion protocol, according to sources close to the team.

The Giants’ Brett Jones has a sprained right MCL. We’ll have to see how long he’s sidelined.
The Cardinals and Eagles participated in a minor trade together yesterday. Philly gave up backup QB Matt Barkley, receiving a conditional seventh-round draft pick in return.
Barkley has zero touchdowns and four interceptions in his four career games.
A couple of notable quarterbacks were dropped yesterday as teams around the league prepare for the final 53-man rosters.
The Falcons released veteran QB Rex Grossman and T.J. Yates, who had been trying to make the team in a backup capacity.
The Bills parted ways with QB Matt Sims, who had just finished up a stint with fellow AFC Easterners the New York Jets.
In other Bills news, CB Leodis McKelvin has been placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list due to his ankle injury.
McKelvin will have to sit at least the first half-dozen games of the 2015 season. He broke his ankle during Week 11 of last season.
The Giants switched up punters yesterday, waiving veteran Steve Weatherford and trading the Steelers for Brad Wing.
Weatherford has been in New York (for both the Jets and Giants) since 2009. The Steelers will get a late-round pick for Wing.
