NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Week 3 Schedule and More
September 25, 2015
Now that the Redskins and Giants have finished up, Week 3 in the NFL is officially underway. We’ve got lots more games coming in a couple of days, but in the meantime let’s check out some of the notable news items out there in the league.
Redskins-Giants Wrap-Up: The Giants were finally able to hold onto a fourth-quarter lead last night on “Thursday Night Football,” and thus took the win over their divisional rival Redskins 32-21.
The game started out pretty strangely on a safety, and New York kept it rolling from there. Josh Brown would go 3-for-3 on field goals while Eli Manning posted 279 yards and two scores. Reuben Randle (116 yards; TD) and Odell Beckham Jr. (79 yards; TD) each had seven catches.

Let’s kick things off with a couple of Jets injury items today. Top CB and face of the franchise Darrelle Revis was limited in yesterday’s practice session. He’s dealing with a sore groin.
The initial reports here don’t seem to think it’s too serious of a condition for Revis, but we’ll have to see what happens over the next couple of days. Revis has a pick and three fumble recoveries in just two games thus far.
Then there’s the Jets’ Eric Decker, who was injured late in the road win over the Colts. He’s missed two practices this week due to his knee sprain.
We’d imagine the Jets will be very careful bringing Decker back from injury, so there’s a decent chance he’ll have to sit for the Philly game on Sunday.
Now on to a couple of Saints items. QB Drew Brees was limited in yesterday’s practice session. He’s dealing with a shoulder issue.
Brees is dealing with a bruised rotator cuff, which could lead to backup QB Luke McCown getting the start.
Also on the Saints, WR Brandin Cooks seems to be confident that he’ll be able to play Sunday. If he practices today, we’d call him a pretty sure bet.
The Jaguars won’t be able to debut their new TE toy Julius Thomas until at least next week. He continues to recover from finger surgery and will be out of action Sunday.
