The Baltimore Ravens were a drive away from clawing all the way back to upend the Cincinnati Bengals in Ohio last weekend in what was one of the more exciting games of the weekend and now they stay on the road for another divisional show down, this time on Thursday night against the Steelers. Baltimore's defense has been suspect since losing Terrell Suggs as they have lost back to back games against the Raiders and Bengals but if they are going to salvage their season they need to re-establish themselves on the defensive side of the ball and that starts tonight against Pittsburgh. Steve Smith continues to show he can still ball as he torched the Bengals last week and if he can keep it up and Justin Forsett can get going on the ground than the Ravens should have no trouble moving the football and keeping themselves in this game.
The Steelers would have been big time favourites in this one had they had the services of Roesthlisberger but a knee injury has him out of action for the next month at the very least and it is now Mike Vick's team. Vick, the former Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, and New York Jets pivot gets thrown back into a starter's role and while he is getting older he can still use his feet to his advantage and while the Steelers are likely to hammer the ball early and often with Le'Veon Bell it is nice to know they can rely on Vick to get out of a bad situation when called upon. However, it is Vick's passing game that remains in question and with the weapons he has around him it may not be a huge problem but against good defenses, Baltimore's included, he may have a tough time getting into a rhythm. This game is shaping up to be a pick'em and the line could continue to move as we approach kick off but either way I think the Ravens keep it close and getting points is something to look at.
