New York Jets (2-1) at Miami Dolphins (1-2)

NFL Football: Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 9:30 am (Wembley Stadium)

The Line: Miami Dolphins +2.5 -- Over/Under: 41

The Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets face off on Sunday in London as the NFL gets off to an early start on Sunday of week 4.

The Miami Dolphins have been a major disappointment losing their last two games after winning on opening day. The Dolphins offense has been ineffective averaging 17 points and 344.3 yards per game and they have a minus two turnover ratio. Ryan Tannehill continues to be a disaster of a QB  for Miami completing 61.4 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and three interceptions. Lamar Miller is the Dolphins leading rusher with just 105 yards and Jarvis Landry is the bright spot for the offense with 24 receptions. The Dolphins defense is allowing 24.7 points and 391 yards per game with two interceptions and one sack. Reshad Jones is the Dolphins leading tackler with 32, Jelani Jenkins has 26 tackles, and Koa Misi has 21 tackles. Dolphins Head Coach Joe Philbin is on the hot seat and it is unlikely he survives another loss this early in the season.

After winning their first two games the New York Jets are coming off of their first loss of the season losing to the Eagles in Week 3. The Jets offense is averaging 22.7 points and 333.3 yards per game and they have a plus five turnover ration. Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has completed 62.1 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and five interceptions. Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell have split carries in the Jets backfield averaging 4.4 and 3.9 yards respectively and Brandon Marshall is New York’s top receiver with 23 catches and three touchdowns. The Jets defense is allowing a NFL best 13.7 points and a fourth best 298.3 yards per game with four interceptions, four sacks, and six fumble recoveries. David Harris leads Gang Green with 25 tackles, Demario Davis has 23 tackles, and Calvin Pryor has 21 tackles. The Jets were sent back to Earth in week 2 but if they continue to win the turnover battle they should have a chance to win a lot of games.

Miami is 7-3 against the spread following a double-digit home loss, 1-5 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, and 0-6 against the spread against the AFC. New York is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games, 5-2 against the spread against the AFC East, and 4-1 against the spread following a loss. New York is 23-9-1 against the spread in the last 33 meetings of these two.

The Dolphins looked awful last week as well as the week before but this is the NFL and turnarounds happen fast and unannounced and I expect the Dolphins to come out swinging here and get a comfortable win.

Mitch’s Pick Miami Dolphins +2.5
