NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Week 7 Schedule and More
October 23, 2015
Now that the Seahawks and Niners have finished up, we’ve got a couple of days left before the rest of the league gets going again in the NFL’s Week 7. In the meantime, let’s check out today’s headlines.
Seahawks-49ers Wrap-Up: The Seahawks continued their dominance of the 49ers last night on “Thursday Night Football,” coming away with a 20-3 road win in San Francisco.
Marshawn Lynch was the offensive star here, logging 122 yards on the ground with a touchdown.
The Seahawks defense held the Niners to just eight first downs and an ugly 1-for-11 on third downs.
This win basically saves Seattle’s season for the time being, as they move to 3-4 on the year.

The Jets got an unexpected addition to their injury report yesterday when No. 1 WR Brandon Marshall was reported to be nursing a calf issue.
The injury caused him to be limited in yesterday’s practice, but the general consensus is that he’ll be good to go for the Patriots this weekend.
Those rumors about the Ravens possibly trading Steve Smith seem to be unfounded. The team is reportedly more likely to try and convince him to stick around the league for another year rather than try to get some mid-season value for him in a deal.
Smith is still set to retire after this year, but we’ll have to wait and see if he wants to give it another shot after what’s been a lost season so far.
The Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger was limited in yesterday’s practice due to his knee injury.
As of right now, it appears Roethlisberger will sit again in favor of Landry Jones, so the most likely scenario seems to be him making a return in Week 8.
The Cardinals’ John Brown had some issues with his ailing hamstring yesterday, as it was reported that he had tightness there which caused him to be limited in practice.
Brown still seems to be on track to play against the Ravens this weekend, but he’s worth keeping an eye on if you’re a fan.
We didn’t get any new information on Chargers TE Antonio Gates’ knee injury yesterday, but he did sit out practice again. It seems it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him sit out Week 7 along with WR Keenean Allen, who was also sidelined yesterday.
