NFL Updates: News From Around the League, Week 8 Schedule and More
October 30, 2015
Week 8 in the NFL is officially off and running, now that the Dolphins and Patriots are all finished up. We’ve got a couple more days to wait until the Sunday games, so let’s kill some time by checking out the day’s headlines.
Dolphins-Patriots Wrap-Up: The Dolphins-Patriots game last night on “Thursday Night Football” turned out to be a one-sided stinker, with New England dominating things en route to a 36-7 victory.
Tom Brady tossed for 356 yards and four touchdowns here, while counterpart Ryan Tannehill could manage only 300 with two interceptions and no scores.
The Patriots are now the first team in the NFL to get to 7-0 on the season. They’ve scored at least 28 points in every game.

Chris Ivory’s hamstring has been a question mark for the Jets this week, but it’s looking like he’ll be able to play in Oakland on Sunday.
Ivory has been practicing in full this week, seven days after he pulled his hamstring on the first play of the Patriots loss. New York will need him at full speed to run their offense optimally.
Bad news for the Chargers’ Antonio Gates. He was out of practice yesterday, thanks to that knee injury.
As of right now it looks like Gates will miss another game in Week 8. Look for Ladarius Green to start against the Ravens.
There’s a great matchup to look for in Sunday’s Panthers-Colts game. CB Josh Norman will be on No. 1 Colts WR T.Y. Hilton all game, which means the two will be locked in an intriguing battle.
Norman has had a great season through the first seven weeks, so it’ll be interesting to see how he performs against the Colts’ top receiving threat.
Marcus Mariota was able to get in another practice yesterday, his second in a row. He’s still questionable at this point for Week 8, however.
If we had to guess, we’d imagine Mariota will be a game-time decision against the Texans. We’ll get more information this afternoon.
Josh Brown missed out on Cardinals practice yesterday, thanks to a hamstring injury. We suppose there’s a chance he could get back out there today and improve his odds for Week 8, but expect him to be listed as doubtful.
